Tsukamoto Wins the Naoto Nakajima Prize at the Tokyo Architecture Collection
Tsukamoto, one of the co-organizers of this project, has been awarded the Naoto Nakajima Prize at the Tokyo Architecture Collection 2024: National Master’s Thesis Exhibition.
The Tokyo Architecture Collection is an annual event that brings together master’s theses and design projects from graduate schools across Japan. It features exhibitions, public jury reviews, and final summary sessions. Through in-depth questioning and discussion by the jury, individual jury prizes and a Grand Prix are selected.
Tsukamoto’s thesis was recognized for its insightful reinterpretation of architect Uzo Nishiyama—building on existing scholarship while also transcending it to present a renewed understanding of his legacy.
Thesis Title:
“The Aporia of Marxism in Architecture — From DEZAM's Establishment to Post-War Zero Point: Uzo Nishiyama and the Arrangement of His Historical Evaluation”
